How to Measure?

In order to measure finish carpentry trim for installation and ensure you have enough for the job, we like to use the following technique that works quite well.

For any given running length of trim measure up to the nearest foot and then add another foot.

For example:

If your wall measures 11 feet 9 inches, we would round that 9 inches up to a whole foot (12' feet) and then add another 1 foot to equal 13' feet for that wall.

11' 9" = 12'

12' + 1' = 13' ft total should be ordered.

When installing it is sometimes more accurate to mark trim in place than to measure and then transfer numbers. It's easy to misread a ruler or to confuse numbers while walking to the saw. It is usually more accurate to hold a board in place to mark its length rather than to use a tape and involve numbers.
